Who is this for?
U.S. businesses, sole proprietors, and individuals who paid one or more contractors $600 or more in nonemployee compensation during tax year 2025 and need to issue them Form 1099-NEC.
What do I get for $49?
A license key that unlocks the generator for tax year 2025. Use it to produce as many 1099-NEC PDFs as you need — one per contractor — in your browser. Each PDF includes Copy B (for the contractor) and Copy 2 (for the contractor's state filing). One-time payment, no subscriptions, no per-contractor fees.
Does this file my 1099s with the IRS?
No. You print and mail the PDFs to your contractors, then file Copy A separately with the IRS — either using the official red-ink scannable form (order from irs.gov/orderforms) or e-filing through an authorized transmitter like Tax1099, efileMyForms, Track1099, or the IRS FIRE system.
We don't produce Copy A. The IRS requires Copy A to be printed on official scannable red-ink paper or filed electronically; we don't reproduce that.
When are 1099-NECs due?
For tax year 2025, the deadlines are January 31, 2026:
- Furnish Copy B and Copy 2 to each contractor.
- File Copy A with the IRS (paper or e-file).
State deadlines for Copy 1 vary — check your state's filing requirements.
What if I make a mistake on a 1099?
If you haven't filed yet: just regenerate the PDF with the corrected information.
If you've already filed Copy A with the IRS: you'll need to file a corrected 1099-NEC marked "CORRECTED" — see the IRS instructions for Form 1099-NEC. This tool doesn't (yet) produce CORRECTED-marked forms; you'd file the correction via your e-file transmitter or by ordering corrected red-ink Copy A from the IRS.
Can I use this for prior tax years (2024, 2023, etc.)?
No. The current product fills the 2025 revision of Form 1099-NEC, which has a specific field layout. Prior-year forms have different field IDs and won't render correctly.
Will there be a tax-year 2026 version?
Yes. We monitor the IRS for the 2026 revision of Form 1099-NEC, which is typically published in Q4 of the prior year. Expect the TY 2026 product to launch in late 2026 as a separate license. Existing TY 2025 customers don't automatically get the TY 2026 license — each tax year is a separate, one-time $49 purchase.
What about other 1099 forms — 1099-MISC, 1099-K, 1099-INT?
Not included. This product is 1099-NEC only (the form for nonemployee compensation, which replaced the old 1099-MISC Box 7 starting tax year 2020).
How many contractors can I include?
Unlimited. Add as many recipients as you need in a single generation pass; the output is a ZIP with one PDF per recipient plus a README.
Is my tax data safe?
Yes. The generator runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript and the pdf-lib + JSZip libraries. We do not have a backend that receives your data — payer details, recipient TINs, payment amounts, and addresses never leave your device. Your payer info is saved in your browser's localStorage so you don't have to re-type it; you can clear it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. Gumroad's standard 30-day money-back policy applies. Request a refund through Gumroad's refund flow or email contact@1099generator.com.
Do I need a CPA?
This tool is software, not tax advice. If you're unsure whether you need to issue a 1099-NEC, which boxes to fill, or how to handle a corrected filing, consult a Certified Public Accountant or tax attorney before using the tool. An hour with a CPA costs less than a single misfiled 1099 penalty.
I lost my license key — can you resend it?
Your license key is in the receipt email Gumroad sent you when you purchased. Search your inbox (and spam folder) for "Gumroad" or "1099 Generator". If you genuinely can't find it, email contact@1099generator.com with the purchase email address and we'll dig it up.
What browsers does it support?
Any modern desktop browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, recent versions. The generator uses standard browser APIs (fetch, crypto, Blob, URL.createObjectURL) and pdf-lib. Mobile browsers work but the form-filling UI isn't optimized for small screens.
